#BeSahdy with TOMS For World Sight Day, October 10

Tomorrow, October 10th is World Sight Day. Fortunate are those who have the gift of sight, but do you know there are around 285 million people in the world who are visually impaired or blind, 2/3 of them are women? In some cases, the visual impairment starts in the childhood and CAN BE PREVENTED with early intervention. Over 12 million children (mostly those living in developing countries) worldwide have visual impairment that can be improved with glasses. All they need is little help. I am excited to tell you that TOMS- one of the brands I respect a lot for their philanthropy -is launching #BeShady, a social media campaign to raise awareness for World Sight Day. Through #BeShady, TOMS is inviting people all over the world to start a conversation and raise awareness about visual impairment by wearing sunglasses in an unlikely indoor setting (like in a restaurant, at the gym, etc.) on October 10th and share a photo via social media using the hashtag #BeShady.

Fall Dressing: Houndstooth And Mixed Matrials

One of my favorite pattern for Fall/Winter is houndstooth. The classic pattern is usually used in wool or twill material and never goes out of style. I saw these silky, cuffed ankle pants in houndstooth print (not woven) at Target and thought that they were a nice modern twist on the classic pattern. These are an easy pair to dress up or dress down. I decided to dress these pants up with heels yet keep the things casual with mixed material Zara top in knit sleeves and perforated faux-leather front.

I love the bold, in-your-face graphic of this sweatshirt (reminiscent of Lim's KA_POW comic print sweater from his pre-fall 2012 collection - but for the fraction of the cost!) Fall Splurge: Brocade Pants

Last year during New York Fashion Week (for Fall '13) I was totally awestruck with the rich brocade pants and trousers at Vera Wang Fall 2013 show! The luxe brocade fabric with bright jewel tones made my heart skip a beat as it moved elegantly on the runway, glittering as light fell on the models from different angles! I had made a mental note to get my hands on a jewel tone brocade pants for fall! Earlier this year when I was visiting India, the first thing I did was scour the traditional fabric stores for the brocade I wanted for my pants! In India, almost every wedding trousseau has brocade Saris, so this fabric had always had enchanted me even as a little girl! I saw this peacock blue fabric with woven pattern in indgo and deep purple stripes at the selvage! YES, I jumped with excitement and took it to my trusted tailor (ahem, I am fancy like that!)! The result - this totally rad pair of funky pants! #winning!

If you are planning to get a pair of brocade trousers, it is better to splurge and get the real woven fabric, instead of getting the printed one. Most of the brocade pants I love are little bit on expensive side, but if you know a good tailor, get the fabric of your choice and get it tailored! If you are in NY area, there are some good fabric stores right on 7th and 8th ave (around 37/38 st) that carry great selection of brocade fabrics. You can also order fabric online. Fall Dressing With 3.1 Phillip Lim For Target

Early birds get the worms, and late night online-sale dweller grab the coveted designer-retailer collab goodies! I was lucky enough to grab some bags and some clothing items online before they were sold out and I am glad that I didn't give in to sleep and ordered these items. Usually I am not very interested in designer -retailer collaboration, but I loved 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target collaboration , bags specially! I am also loving this leopard print sweater. The color is so Fall, and it is looks and feels great too. actually all the pieces I got from this collection are nicely built. The trench coats run large so they are going back, but this sweater fits true to size. 

Had such a fun time taking pictures on a perfect fall day with my friend! Just a quick hair change - pony up to combat the sudden wind!! 

...but I guess I like my hair down more than I worry about the wind;)
