Boom!

This was the sweatshirt for which half the shoppers stalked Target website on the day (or the wee hours of the morning!) of the launch of Phillip Lim for Target collection! This and the bags. I love the bold, in-your-face graphic of this sweatshirt (reminiscent of Lim's KA_POW comic print sweater from his pre-fall 2012 collection - but for the fraction of the cost!) These animal print Zara heels today's outfit a 'bold and bolder' look! #ReadyForFall!

Fall Splurge: Brocade Pants

Last year during New York Fashion Week (for Fall '13) I was totally awestruck with the rich brocade pants and trousers at Vera Wang Fall 2013 show! The luxe brocade fabric with bright jewel tones made my heart skip a beat as it moved elegantly on the runway, glittering as light fell on the models from different angles! I had made a mental note to get my hands on a jewel tone brocade pants for fall! Earlier this year when I was visiting India, the first thing I did was scour the traditional fabric stores for the brocade I wanted for my pants! In India, almost every wedding trousseau has brocade Saris, so this fabric had always had enchanted me even as a little girl! I saw this peacock blue fabric with woven pattern in indgo and deep purple stripes at the selvage! YES, I jumped with excitement and took it to my trusted tailor (ahem, I am fancy like that!)! The result - this totally rad pair of funky pants! #winning!

If you are planning to get a pair of brocade trousers, it is better to splurge and get the real woven fabric, instead of getting the printed one. Most of the brocade pants I love are little bit on expensive side, but if you know a good tailor, get the fabric of your choice and get it tailored! If you are in NY area, there are some good fabric stores right on 7th and 8th ave (around 37/38 st) that carry great selection of brocade fabrics. You can also order fabric online. Fall Dressing: Bring Your Maxi From Summer Into Fall

Maxi dress is one of my summer favorite outfits. Easy to style, easy to wear and comfortable for mom on the go too! Even though it is considered a summer wardrobe staple, a maxi dress can be used in Fall as well, styled with a jacket, long cardigan, even a  fur vest. The key is to pick up a pattern and color that can go in Fall as well. So when I saw this Navy chevron striped maxi with orange and chartreuse accents, on The Shopping Bag,  I knew it could be a maxi for summer and a drop waist midi dress for fall! Ladies, you need to get your hands on this chic piece ASAP - only for $34 you can get two outfits!! I love the earthy colors and an ever green chevron stripe pattern that will never look dated or old!

Here I am, on a sunny day that doesn't let me believe it is September!  

If you follow my blog, you must have seen this post where I first styled a maxi dress as a drop waist dress. I used the same technique of  belting the maxi at waist with a soft sash and pull the fabric over the belt to create the drop waist illusion! With a coordinating fall-appropriate jacket, I turned my maxi into whole another outfit!
