#OOTD : Leather & Brocade For a Dressy Fall Look

A pair of brocade pants and sleek pumps make a great outfit where you need to look dressed up without wearing a little black dress. For Fall 2013, brocade pants were a huge trend and for Fall 2014 too this trend continues to hold. I got these brocade pants from JCPenney, they were perfect ankle lenth for me, but a little loose at the waist. I got them nipped in just a little bit and now they fit like they were made for me! The Zara leather mixed material top is a perfect match for the lustrous fabric of  the pants.

 {Practicing my 'no photos please!' pose just in case I get a reality show and become famous!! What, you don't believe it will ever happen? Well, FYI, it has happened to less talented people before! LOL!}

Fall Splurge: Brocade Pants

Last year during New York Fashion Week (for Fall '13) I was totally awestruck with the rich brocade pants and trousers at Vera Wang Fall 2013 show! The luxe brocade fabric with bright jewel tones made my heart skip a beat as it moved elegantly on the runway, glittering as light fell on the models from different angles! I had made a mental note to get my hands on a jewel tone brocade pants for fall! Earlier this year when I was visiting India, the first thing I did was scour the traditional fabric stores for the brocade I wanted for my pants! In India, almost every wedding trousseau has brocade Saris, so this fabric had always had enchanted me even as a little girl! I saw this peacock blue fabric with woven pattern in indgo and deep purple stripes at the selvage! YES, I jumped with excitement and took it to my trusted tailor (ahem, I am fancy like that!)! The result - this totally rad pair of funky pants! #winning!

If you are planning to get a pair of brocade trousers, it is better to splurge and get the real woven fabric, instead of getting the printed one. Most of the brocade pants I love are little bit on expensive side, but if you know a good tailor, get the fabric of your choice and get it tailored! If you are in NY area, there are some good fabric stores right on 7th and 8th ave (around 37/38 st) that carry great selection of brocade fabrics. You can also order fabric online. Trending: Brocade Pants And Capris

I fell in love with brocade when I first saw the fabric as a little girl in India. The shining, rich fabric threaded with gold and silver in detailed patterns oozes opulence. Brocade is a an essential part of an Indian woman's wardrobe - specially her special occasion Saris. (In fact, a decade ago, I wore a brocade Sari for my wedding) Now, this lustrous fabric is taking center stage in the big designer's collections, not in the evening gowns but in trousers and cropped pants!

As I travel to India after almost 5 years, I am once again overwhelmed with the textures, colors and grandeur of rich fabrics, brocade being one of them. I don't think I can wait until fall to have a tailor-fit brocade pants in my wardrobe! A slim fit brocade trouser with a chiffon blouse, hello Spring!!
