Star Style For Less With Sears: #ThisisStyle

I am a member of the Collective Bias® Social Fabric® Community. This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper amplification for Collective Bias and its advertiser.

My husband can vouch, albeit irritably,  for my addiction to fashion magazines. Irritably, because I subscribe to a number of glossies that take up lot of available surface in our apartment! But I tell him that these magazines are my research material and inspiration for the content. I love looking at the newest trends, designer duds, celebrity styles featured there. More often than not, the celebrity looks are way out of my budget, but that doesn't mean they are un-attainable. When we think of magazine spreads featuring chic dresses and trendy pieces, we usually think of boutique stores or expensive high end stores. So when I was asked by Sears to create a celebrity / runway look for less, I zoomed in my star style spying eyes on my favorite magazines and searsStyle! Today's post is all about getting the celebrity look for less with affordable yet stylish pieces from Sears. First up is a look from one of my favorite style star Olivia Palermo. Her bright yellow coat and printed skinny pants are perfect for Fall and Spring and with layering, can work in winter too. She, ofcourse, is wearing Alberta Ferretti coat retailing for more than $500, but I found a really chic alternative at Sears for way less! (Now it is on sale for $41.99!!). This boucle walking coat is fully lined, fits true to size and very sleek. The printed twill pants are my earlier buy from Sears that I wore all through last year! Similar style of printed pants are on sale for less than $17 on Sears. I tied the whole look with light mint pumps and blue floral clutch.

It seems like Olivia Palermo is not the only celebrity loving the yellow coats! Even last year, this bright color was on trend for winters. I had been looking for a yellow coat for a long time, and really searched the internet for a perfect piece in my budget, ending my search with Sears

Have you looked at the selection of dresses at Sears lately? Seriously, they have some major trends and looks that will be perfect for coming Spring and Summer! I found so many styles fit for a star, don't believe me, take a look at few looks I recreated with Sears pieces! I am also a member of Shop Your Way rewards program and every time I purchase anything from Sears, I get points that can be redeemed as cash during checkout! Anne Hathaway looks simply stunning in this vintage floral sheath with sleek silhouette and stylish boat neck. The dress price is not known to me, but a vintage piece specially picked out by a celebrity during a film promotion only speaks 'super expensive'! I found this very similar floral printed sheath at Sears that is a dead ringer of Anne's dress in terms of cut and lines for less than $50! Star style for less? Way less, more like!!

Supermodels have a leg (or two) up when it comes to looking like million bucks! Victoria's Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley looks gorgeous and sexy in this Balmain beaded mini dress with plunging neckline. I absolutely love the geometric pattern play in this dress, but let's face it, this dress is not wearable for us every day women. But this Sears dress is a close replica of the geometric pattern, color scheme and sleeve length, with added benefit of a wearable neckline! And price is only 39.99!  Star look for less? Score!

If you thought you can't wear florals in winter, let Jessica Alba prove you wrong! The actress looks cool and preppy in Minkpink sweatshirt and a leather skirt and knee high riding boots. I found this floral cardigan and black riding boots at Sears to recreate Jessica's fresh look.

Fun Super Bowl Party DIYs With Rubbermaid and Sharpie

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Rubbermaid and Sharpie but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #RubbermaidSharpie  http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO
I have to admit I grew up watching cricket. For me, soccer was football! But after moving to the US, I was introduced to the exciting world of tackles and touchdowns, quarterbacks and crazy fans, tailgating and halftime, and of course the Super Bowl! Getting together with friends on game day is great but if you are hosting and cooking for a crowd, it can be a little stressful. But with a little planning you can make it easy and add a lot of fun in your homegating!  For any get-together, I like the idea of snacks that can be prepared ahead of time and take very little effort to assemble. I found a great recipe for artichoke olive crostini here, and it was very easy to convert it into a game day snack.
You can keep the leftover artichoke-olive paste in a Rubbermaid container in the fridge for 2-3 days. Add it with your favorite pasta and sauteed vegetables to make healthy dinner. It also works great as a sandwich spread on whole grain pita bread with some fresh arugula and mozzarella cheese.
Now, the fun part of Super Bowl party. Making the beverage tags. You can involve your kids in drawing and coloring and get them excited for the Super Bowl (as if they aren't already!)
On a card stock paper, draw and cut out the shape of a football. Find the center of the tag and cut out another hole. This will make a wine glass tag. With a Sharpie, draw the football stitches. Your guests can write their names on their glasses.

For beer/soda/plastic cup tags, cut out the football shape, decorate it with a Sharpie and thread a yarn on the top of the tag (I use the darning needle, but a punch out hole will work too). Hang the tag on bottle necks or tie it around the cup.

Here is another fun idea to make sure people don't drive drunk. I mean, by now we all should know better!
For these DIYs, Rubbermaid and Sharpies are your best friends. I got mine from Target using the coupons to save money on both of these items. You can text COUPONS to TARGET on your cell phones and grab the $1 off Rubbermaid food storage coupon and the $1 off Sharpie 4 pack or larger.
How will you use Rubbermaid an Sharpie in your Super Bowl party?

Fall/Winter Fitness Routine Refresh With adidas #NeverHibernate

As we layer up for fall, it is tempting to take easy on our fitness routines and goals. After all, those pesky little love handles that would have given us grief during summer time are no longer visible under those cozy loose sweaters and coats!  Although, during the chilly weather, I won't blame anyone for not wanting to go for a 5 AM run! That's why I like to reshuffle and refresh my fitness routine to keep me on track. During Summer, I had shared my outdoor routine refresh and today I am sharing some of my tips for changing your fitness routine for colder weather.
With the arrival of cooler weather my outdoor play time with my daughter gets cut in half, so I try to incorporate the elliptical/treadmill for cardio and continue the core and strength exercises in my wonderful community gym. (Tip: Local community recreation centers are a much cheaper alternative to expensive gym memberships - my community rec center has some amazing group classes for the fraction of the cost of big name gym chains!)
I love the indoor group classes (specially pilates and body sculpting) and my adidas gear keeps me comfortable and dry while I sweat by the bucket loads during my spin class!!The super stylish fit and colors keep me motivated and inspired to workout.

If you have been a long time reader of this blog, you might be aware of this post about how 6 years ago, I shed my pregnancy weight the healthy way. Since then I have made fitness and regular exercise a part of my life and have maintained a healthy weight and body. Changing the fitness routines with changing seasons is a great way to keep your routine fun and fresh.
If you too are looking to refresh your fitness routine for colder weather, here my top three tips. Please note that I am not a fitness expert and these tips are from my personal experience
1. Join a spin class - With cold weather, outdoor jogs and run become less appealing, but we still need cardio exercise at least 3 times a week for 30-45 minutes. I find a group spin class a perfect way to achieve my weekly cardio goals. The energy and music (and peer pressure to not give in when the going gets tough!) make it a fun work out.
2. Recruit a friend - We all know that going solo sometimes make us prone to skip work out. If you have a friend, neighbor or a co-worker who wants to team up with you for exercise, go for it. You will be less likely to skip the gym/group class and the workout will be much more fun!
3. Get the work out done in the morning - It is tempting to procrastinate the sweat and sore muscles once you jump into your daily schedule. Get the workout out of your way early, ( I keep my running shoes next to my bed and wear them before I brush my teeth!) so you won't get any chance to push it for later. We all know how it goes when we decide to 'squeeze in' a quick workout at lunch hour!
Make your workout your habit, a part of your everyday routine and just have fun! Join the conversation on twitter/instagram with hashtag #NeverHibernate to share your tips and tricks to stay active during cooler weather!

Between the daily chores, playdates, homework (and ofcourse outfit planning ;-)), sometimes I feel I need a sweet pick me up! But like rest of the world, I want to avoid stuffing myself with too much caffeine or too much sugar! I recently had the chance to try out Energems - the sweet nuggets packed with energy and great taste of chocolate.
