Fall/Winter Fitness Routine Refresh With adidas #NeverHibernate

As we layer up for fall, it is tempting to take easy on our fitness routines and goals. After all, those pesky little love handles that would have given us grief during summer time are no longer visible under those cozy loose sweaters and coats!  Although, during the chilly weather, I won't blame anyone for not wanting to go for a 5 AM run! That's why I like to reshuffle and refresh my fitness routine to keep me on track. During Summer, I had shared my outdoor routine refresh and today I am sharing some of my tips for changing your fitness routine for colder weather.
With the arrival of cooler weather my outdoor play time with my daughter gets cut in half, so I try to incorporate the elliptical/treadmill for cardio and continue the core and strength exercises in my wonderful community gym. (Tip: Local community recreation centers are a much cheaper alternative to expensive gym memberships - my community rec center has some amazing group classes for the fraction of the cost of big name gym chains!)
I love the indoor group classes (specially pilates and body sculpting) and my adidas gear keeps me comfortable and dry while I sweat by the bucket loads during my spin class!!The super stylish fit and colors keep me motivated and inspired to workout.

If you have been a long time reader of this blog, you might be aware of this post about how 6 years ago, I shed my pregnancy weight the healthy way. Since then I have made fitness and regular exercise a part of my life and have maintained a healthy weight and body. Changing the fitness routines with changing seasons is a great way to keep your routine fun and fresh.
If you too are looking to refresh your fitness routine for colder weather, here my top three tips. Please note that I am not a fitness expert and these tips are from my personal experience
1. Join a spin class - With cold weather, outdoor jogs and run become less appealing, but we still need cardio exercise at least 3 times a week for 30-45 minutes. I find a group spin class a perfect way to achieve my weekly cardio goals. The energy and music (and peer pressure to not give in when the going gets tough!) make it a fun work out.
2. Recruit a friend - We all know that going solo sometimes make us prone to skip work out. If you have a friend, neighbor or a co-worker who wants to team up with you for exercise, go for it. You will be less likely to skip the gym/group class and the workout will be much more fun!
3. Get the work out done in the morning - It is tempting to procrastinate the sweat and sore muscles once you jump into your daily schedule. Get the workout out of your way early, ( I keep my running shoes next to my bed and wear them before I brush my teeth!) so you won't get any chance to push it for later. We all know how it goes when we decide to 'squeeze in' a quick workout at lunch hour!
Make your workout your habit, a part of your everyday routine and just have fun! Join the conversation on twitter/instagram with hashtag #NeverHibernate to share your tips and tricks to stay active during cooler weather!

Outdoor Workout Routine Refresh With adidas #ShineWithSweat

They say exercise is your 401k for health. Just like you build a financial nest egg for your retirement, you should also build a 'health nest egg' too! When we are young, we only think about weight, but fitness goes deeper than the weight on the scale. It is about strength, endurance and a healthy body that is there not only for you, but for your kids too! I have always been lean and slender and never had to worry about weight control, but I had gained a lot (I MEAN A LOT!) of weight during my pregnancy. The shedding of those pounds taught me a great lesson - I have only one body and I need to keep it strong and fit so I can set an example for my little one about fit and healthy lifestyle. I have to admit, I am not a fitness expert, nor do I have a perfect body, but I like to keep fit and exercise. My exercise routine involves cardio and easy strength training with light, free weights. But Summer time requires change in my routine - main reason being Mili's (my daughter) school time-off. As she is home most of the day, I hardly get time to go to the gym or a group fitness class, so I try to incorporate cardio in the form of small runs/jogs, and playing/moving with her. The park bench becomes a place to tricep dips and slide becomes a make-shift wall-push up area!
This Summer we took a vacation to west coast of Canada (Vancouver, Victoria and Whistler) and I packed my adidas gear with me to counterbalance the vacation-food intake!

The morning run at Stanley Park in my adidas hot pink adipure trainers didn't feel like work out - it was pure heaven! The view, the water and my adidas training tights that are form fitting and so comfortable!
I was lucky enough to receive these amazing work out pieces by adidas and I am totally in love with this supernova racer back running bra! The back straps are so stylish and it gives comfortable support! Must have for every runner!
During our vacation at Whistler, I tried zip lining for the firs time and loved it! Don't let the death grip on the rope fool you, I am actually laughing here! BTW, you catch more of my vacation fun and adidas action shots on instagram!
My adidas training tights and shoes are right there with me almost 150 feet above ground!!
Now back home, my outdoor workout routine goes on - this time a quick run at an empty parking lot! No matter where you are, just get a move on - stairs, dog park, boardwalk, sidewalk - every place could inspire you to move, walk, jog, run! Let adidas gear be your companion and just go!!
