Lookbook: Winter Bright & Faux Fur

This weekend was fun catching up with an old friend, and today I'll be meeting couple of  my college friends after years! Exciting start of the year for sure:-)
Coming to the outfit, this faux fur vest was a holiday purchase and such a good one too. I love the color and feel of this vest and it goes well with both dresses and jeans. Good for mild winter days,  not warm enough to wear it in 40 degree weather by itself, but can be layered with a cashmere sweater.

Bag - Ann Taylor
Shoes - New York Transit (absolutely love them!)
Sweater - Target

Shop The Look -
Sweater - Catherine Malandrino ( on sale!)
Vest - Topshop
Bag - Calvin Klein (On sale now!)

Happy Monday everybody! Have a great start of the week.

DIY Tutorial: How To Make Necklace Organizer With Picture Frames

Tired of tangled necklaces in your jewelry box? Want the easy access to your beautiful jewelry without taking a lot of space? I have got an esy DIY to create a beautiful hanging organizer that looks like an art work. All you need is an old picture frame (or get a new one if you like!) and some felt and cotton fabric.
Let's start!

 Supplies Needed:

Step 1: Take the picture out of the frame. Usually there is a cardboard back of the frame, but my frame had a thick plywood kind of back that wouldn't allow me put fabric and felt in the frame. If you have a cardboard frame, you might not need to buy cardboard.
Step 2: Trace the cardboard with the picture/frame backing and cut it to fit the frame.

Step 3: Cut the felt and the cotton fabric little big bigger than the cardboard so it can wrap all around the cardboard when you fit it in the frame.

Step 4: Put the fabric, felt and cardboard in that order to fit into the frame. The fabric shows at the front and felt makes it easier to put pin tacks for hanging necklaces.

Step 1: Pull everything tightly in the bacl of the frame before securing it. I used packing tape to secure the back, but you can use hot glue too if you want.

That's how it looks when it is ready. Now stick the pin tacks/push pins as you like to store and showcase your beautiful necklaces!
Stare lovingly at your DIY creation:-) You did it!

New Year, New Look With #WalgreensBeauty { And A L'Oréal Giveaway}

I am a member of the Collective Bias® Social Fabric® Community. This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper amplification for Collective Bias and its advertiser
I have to say, the glamorous Hollywood red carpet is a treasure trove of beauty and makeup inspiration, makeup tips and DIY makeup tutorials. Although the stars sashaying down there are most likely to be primped and primed by big beauty artists, their looks can easily be translated with right tools and products. The Golden Globes awards last night had a lot of amazing beauty looks that I am planing to try out this new year! I am usually a 3 step makeup person, concealer/powder foundation, eyeliner and lipgloss! But this year I am planning to incorporate bold lips and dramatic eyes in my style. Although I don't have a celebrity make up artist on my speed dial, with the help of the wonderful products from L'Oréal available at Walgreens, this is one resolution that I am most likely to keep!  From bold, dep hues on lips to smokey and shimmering eyes to au naturale clean looks , here are some of the beauty looks I have cataloged to try out this year - straight from LA red carpet at Golden Globes!

One of the most exciting beauty purchase for me this year has been L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Butterfly Mascara. First off, the brush is really great! It is curved with small bristles that pick up even the smallest of the lashes. The handle is easy to hold and rotate as you apply and the formula itself is very silky and smooth. This mascara gives an instant volume to my lashes and strteches and  lengthens them to give that fake-lash wing effect!

I can't wait to play with bronze and gold eye shadows and ruby red lip colors from L'Oréal! They have some great video tutorials and ideas for face, eyes and nails that you can try for updating your beauty routine. One of my favorite tutorials is this super fun and beautiful 'splashed paint' nail art, PERFECT for spring! Can't wait to try this! All the nail colors from this tutorial are available at Walgreens!
If you are in New York on January 15th, don't miss the exciting L'Oréal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara launch event at the Times Square Walgreens and participate in the instant eye make ups, mini makeovers and loads of other fun activities. Mark your calenders!

Lookbook : Hot Pink Coat & Personalized Necklace

Hot Pink Coat, Shawl Collar Coat, Pink Coat for winter, Bright pink coat, Target wool coat, Pink Coat
Out of the blue, in the middle of'polar vortex' we had a 50 degrees day. That meant, I could forgo the down jacket and three layers of clothing for a colorful, light coat and trade the snow boots for my heeled pumps! Although it started drizzling as soon as we got ready to take pictures and I had to abandon my plans of going out really quickly! This coat was an impulse buy as I was not sure of how it will fit (it was available only online). Target Merona® Women's Shawl Collar Coat in hot pink is my new favorite winter coat, albeit for days when weather is above 40 degrees. It is fully lined, fits true to size and drapes well. The only complaint I had was that it came folded in a box and I could not make the creases in the fabric go even after ironing it twice. I think I need to use steam iron, or just hang it in the closet for it to 'unfold' itself with time. LOL! It is on sale on Target as we speak! If you like it grab it ASAP (if it is still available in your size!)

One of the chicest trend in jewelry lately has been monogramming and personalizing. O Necklace (Facebook Page - oNecklace) have some great options for personalizing and monogramming. From initials to full names to personalizing charms, O Necklace have 18-24 carat gold plated or sterling silver jewelry. I loved the infinity jewelry and the stylized initial necklaces a lot. They will be a great gift for moms and best friends for Valentine's day and a great gift for yourself too!

Lookbook: Coral & Houndstooth (And INKKAS shoes giveaway winner)

With the temperatures dipping below freezing, It is getting harder to take outfit pictures these days! This outfit was actually clicked on the weekend when we had (somewhat) better weather. The Zara lookalike
(remember Spring 2013?) coat is from 6ks.com, the fit is nice but it is surely not made for colder climes! It is linen blend kind of fabric, that you might use during early Spring.
A word of caution: I think there are a lot of Asia based online retailers who either sell the pieces 'rejected' by their client brands or they are selling the replica designs, often times made shabbily. I am not sure how consistent they are with the quality and how trustworthy they are with the transaction information. With 6ks.com, my experience has been mixed - out of 3 jackets, one was good quality (the one I am wearing), one was OK and the third was actually not good. So I can't say go ahead and shop with them without reservations.

Necklace - Very Jane, Very Similar from JCrew Factory (Under $30!!)
Skirt - Ann Taylor, Similar Here
Now the giveaway news: The Inkkas shoes giveaway winner is RONALEE DUNCAN. Congratulations! Inkkas team will be in touch with you shortly!
