Video Tutorial: How To Curl Hair Using Conair Infiniti Pro Curl Secret Curling Iron

Love curls but but not the hassles of curling your own hair? Continue reading! I have to tell you that I have been curling my hair since time immemorial, have used all kinds of curling iron and contraptions known to womankind and I thought I knew the art of curling! Boy, how I was proved a novice when I was introduced to this revolutionary curling iron by Conair. It is called Conair Infiniti Pro Curl Secret. It is literally a magic wand of curling! No burning hot metal rods, no fear of burning the top of your ear (fess up, you too have done it at least once!!), no hassle - just an easy to use curling iron where it all happens 'inside'!!

It looks easy, doesn't it! When  I saw this video for the first time, I thought there might be a catch, may be a profesional did this, or they somehow made it look easier than it actually would be, but when I tried this automatic curling iron by Conair infinit pro myself, I was proved wrong again!! It was as easy it it looks in the video! I may not have the gorgeous face and hair of the curl secret model, but the process of curling my hair using curl secret was similar to hers! Here is my own video detailing the process and results! Also a quick and easy side bun tutorial for upcoming Holiday parties!!

The Conair Curl Secret iron is generating a lot of buzz among hair and beauty experts and everyday women like myself! I think the reason behind its growing popularity is the simplicity of its design, ease of use and overall safety of the iron. This is a great curling product for teenagers and young girls who are just learning to use a curling iron and people who are prone to burn the skin around the neck/easrs(people like me!) It is also a great time saver and even people with long hair can use it in a hurry!

My Stylish Cuppa With Bigelow Tea

I ❤ Tea! There is no other way of saying it. I really love my tea. Growing up in India, that was the 'family beverage'. We all drank tea (or chai as we called it) and reveled in its refreshing, healthy taste! From the small cafes to five star hotels, from a gossip-filled afternoon with friends to the high tea at Prime Minister's residence! (Seriously, I have lived an interesting life!! Exhibit A: The picture below!)

On the occasion of International Women's Day in 2003, the Prime Minister of India invited selected female journalists for tea at his residence! One of the most memorable day in my career for sure! And yes, tea was great!:-)

Now, for more than a decade, America is my home. Many things have changed in my life and lifestyle, but one this still remain the same - my choice of beverage! I still start my day with tea. I have tried all kinds of tea under the sky and one of my favorite tea brand for anytime, anywhere tea is Bigelow Tea. I love the numerous taste options and the packaging! The individually wrapped packages keep the taste fresh. This way the box lasts longer after you open it.  My favorite flavors are Bigelow Vanilla Chai, Bigelow Constant Comment (with orange rind), Bigelow Green Tea and o fcourse Bigelow Earl Grey. I usually drink my morning tea hot - i brew Bigelow Earl Grey with milk, sugar, ginger and cardamom. For afternoons and for summertime,I make it iced with just honey and splash of lemon! For iced tea Bigelow Tea has some great fruity, citrusy flavors - like Rasperry Royale, Plantation Mint and assorted herb teas.
(* I also host pretend tea parties for ponies, Cindrella dolls and Olivia the pig every weekend. A lot of help is provided by my 7 year old daughter!!)

If the chai-latte or spiced chai is too strong for you, try brewing you own version - you can control what spice you put it in. Start with Bigelow Earl Grey tea. Simple boil some water with a little piece of ginger (smashed or grated) and couple of pods of Indian cardamom. Pour the boiled (now flavored) water in a cup and steep the tea bag for 3-5 minutes. Add sugar and milk as desired! Nirvana!

Tea is not only a tasty beverage, it is healthier than other sugary drinks and beverages. I am not a soda drinker and avoid sugary juices as much as I can. For the quick pick me up, a cup of tea is my savior! During the New York Fashion Week earlier this month where I was freelancing for couple of publications, I was running from one show to another, taking pictures, editing my stories on the go. Who has time to run to the coffee shop to get the high-calorie, sugary drink? I carried my own home-brewed sweet tea in the portable bottle nicely tucked in my tote!

Sears Style Fall Must-Have #ThisisStyle

For me, Fall is the best season for style. The boots, the leather, earthy suede, chic layering, sleek trench coats - I love them all! So when I got the opportunity to visit sears and preview the Fall must-haves, I immediately went exploring the fall pieces at my nearest Sears store!

First of all, lets talk about Fall trends. Even though I believe one should wear what works best for them and whatever makes them feel good and beautiful, keeping updated with latest trends give us inspiration for outfits and ideas for styling. For 2013, some of the biggest Fall trends are -

1. Textured pants, specially in Jacquard and Brocade - I saw jacquard and brocade pants and skirts at New York Fashion week in February earlier this year at Vera Wang, Badgley Mischka and Rebecca Minkoff and made a mental note to get one for myself when the trend became available in my budget! (And lucky for me, Sears had a perfect pair of Jacquard jeans!)

2. Leather/leather accents - One of the biggest Fall trends this year is leather. Leather leggings, motto  jackets are always a fall staple, but this year we are seeing a lot of leather accents in dresses, trims around the necks in blouses, leather panels in skirts etc. Sears has a great selection of  leather and faux leather pieces. I love the earthy colored jackets and the faux leather panel skirts a lot.

3. Graphic sweaters and sweatshirts - What can I say - Trés cool! Graphic and applique style sweaters, sweatshirts and baggy sleeve slouchy knits will be a huge trend for fall.

4. Burgundy Lips - Red and Coral were big during summer and will continue to be popular in Fall too. But rich deep burgundy lips will stand out this season. I saw the trend during Fall '13 runway shows when Oscar de La Renta, Vera Wang, Rachel Zoe and Bibhu Mohapatra among others used deep shades of maroon and bordeaux on their models.

 5. Lace up wedges - We all  know that ankle boots are a fall must-have. For me wedge heels and lace up style gives a little edge to the simple ankle boot. Sears has some great lace up wedges in fall favorite colors like tan, beige and black.

6. Military inspired styles - This trend has been around for couple of seasons, and this year too you can bet on camo prints, brass button jackets and epaulet shoulders!

During my recent visit, I picked up a jacquard jeans, lace up wedges, a lace top (on sale for 4.99!!) and a baggy sleeve sweater. As a member of Shop Your Way reward program, I used up my points from earlier purchases to save money (and earned more point for shopping!!) and spent the grand total of $63 to score all these items! The best thing is that all these pieces can easily be mixed and matched with my existing wardrobe (as I show you here!) giving me more bang for the buck!  For example, this jacquard jeans jegging is for $27.99 and I can style it with a leather peplum top for a night out or pair it with a light jacket and oxford shoes for a day in the city. Affordable fashion is my favorite word in style dictionary!!

Confession time: I am in my 30s, but I linger in the Sears junior section too as sometimes their medium/large pieces fit a grown up and you get really trendy pieces!  This the the black lace top I picked up from sale rack in junior section for just $4.99! Sears is a great place to score great deals from clearance and sale racks. Lace is also a big  fall trend, either paired up with tough leather or feminine pieces like a full skirt. see if you can find this lace top (now just for $2.99 for select colors!) in your size! Seasons come and go, but our wardrobes and (closet space) stay with us for long time. That's why I love to shop for pieces that I can use with my existing wardrobe to create new looks by just a little tweak of styling. So when I got the opportunity to shop for summer wardrobe essentials at Sears, I immediately thought of the items that are on trend, versatile for their use and not to mention that can create summer fun looks! Summer is all about having fun, after all! Speaking of which, Sears Style is all about fun, versatility and chic looks. Have you been to Sears lately? If not, you need to check out their Summer apparel and accessories, I promise you will find a lot of style inspiration and versatile pieces that you can transition in every occasion and season! Who says stylish wardrobe and affordable fashion are mutually exclusive?  I used my points that I had collected as a Sears Shop Your Way rewards member, and scored these amazing pieces for just little over $50!! My game plan for these pieces is to mix and match to create multiple looks by just changing up my accessories! 
I picked up a fun pair of printed pants that are a sophisticated neutral, can work with a fun patterned blouse for a lunch date or with a basic shell and a blazer to work!
I am a big fan of polka dots - the cheerful pattern is timeless and you can wear it in any season! So when I saw this tie sleeve polka dot blouse, I knew I had found a multi-purpose top! Wear it with a pair of white cut off shorts for a casual look, or pair it with a pencil skirt for work. You can wear it with a pleated skirt and statement necklace for a dinner or even a wedding! I know we have seen a lot of the bubble bib necklaces recently, but this is such a fun accessory and I found the best price yet on this trendy necklace at Sears - less than $15!! (that is before any discount from my Shop Your Way Rewards points!!) Bold, bright and making a big statement without breaking the bank! My kinda style:-)

For a casual day time look that is fun yet polished and put together, I paired this polka dot top with summer print twill pants and comfortable nude loafers. Easy and stylish in a snap!

I took this blouse from a funky, mixed print look to sophisticated evening style, by playing up with accessories, high heels and taking my hair down.

What's Your Cottonelle Care Routine?

They say cleanliness is next to Godliness, I say it is the pre-requisite to Godliness! (try going to your place of worship smelling bad!) They don't call it going to church wearing your Sunday Best for nothing! I have to admit, I am not a very organized person sometimes, but I am a clean freak! After becoming a mother to a very curious little girl (who never met a dog she didn't want to pat!) cleanliness on the go has become a priority. So when the good people at Cottonelle asked me to try their Cottonelle Fresh Care flushable moist wipes, I knew I had to share my 2 cents! I am a Cottonelle customer and have used their products - so I had first hand experience with the brand. In fact I often carry Cottonelle Fresh Care wipes travel pack in my bag. Mili loves to be the FIRST to open the doors, press elevator buttons and slide her hands along (yikes) the escalator railings - so the Cottonelle Fresh Care wipes come in handy for keeping the hands clean.
