Spring 2014 Hair Trends & TRESemmé 7 Day Keratin Smooth Collection Review

Since moving to New York two years ago, I have been enjoying a lot of things New York City has to offer. One of the most exciting among them (for me) is the New York Fashion Week. As a blogger and as a fashion lover, the NYFW is my inspiration board! I love the energy, the pageantry, the fashion and the opportunity to have a glimpse of fashion trends in advance, so I can re-imagine them for my wardrobe and translate them from runway to real-way!

Some moments from NYFW Fall14

Fashion Week is an amazing resource not only for the clothes, but also for hair and beauty. During NYFW Spring 2014, I had seen a lot of cool, laid back updos, messy buns and loose waves. One of the Spring 2014 hair looks that stayed with me was from Rebecca Minkoff show where TRESemmé stylist had created a braided style. For my face front braids never really worked, so I tweaked the style a little to have a braid-like effect without actually braiding, and made a low side bun for a sophisticated yet easy going hair style. It works great for formal occasion where you need to fancy up a bit (think weddings, charity galas, even Holiday balls). See my video tutorial below.

During New York Fashion Week in February 2014, I had a chance to try out TRESemmé 7 Day Keratin Smooth collection (Keratin Smooth 7 Day Smooth Shampoo -Keratin Smooth 7 Day Smooth Conditioner -Keratin Smooth 7 Day Smooth Heat Activated Treatment) and I am glad that I did! The hectic schedule during Fashion Week leaves little to no time for washing/styling my long hair. TRESemmé 7 Day Keratin Smooth collection made it possible for me to go frizz free for a week!

How the collection works -

Wash the hair with Keratin Smooth 7 Day Smooth Shampoo and conditioner. Towel dry hair, thoroughly put Keratin Smooth 7 Day Smooth Heat Activated Treatment in damp hair (Sectioning them off and use the treatment from root to tip works best) and simply blow dry. Now the hair is ready to be styled (leave as is too if you like, but I have super frizzy hair so I like to flat iron them). After using my trusty flat iron, I was so happy with the results! The hair was silkier, smoother and shinier! Great part - I just curled the ends couple days later and on 4th day, I tried this side bun, my hair was beyond fabulous to work them into an updo! Usually I start getting frizz or oily hair at the crown after 2-3 days, but with TRESemmé Keratin Smooth 7 Day system, I didn't need to worry about anything!! Fashion Week was conquered!!

Speaking of which, for Spring this year, the trend is easy going femininity! Whether it is big hair or sleek, loose waves or messy buns, laid back and simple styles are in.

The Moments And 'Every Day Girl' Observations: #NYFW Day 3/4

I have to say I have mixed feeling about attending Fashion Week. I know I can't even afford much of the stuff I am seeing at Fashion Week, but it is great to see the trends well in advance and re-imagine them in my budget and lifestyle. I have been going to New York Fashion week for past 4 seasons, but I still do a happy dance ....

...WHEN I GET THE INVITATION TO A COVETED SHOW

The NYFW shows are really exciting. There is almost a pin drop silence before the runway lits up, then suddenly everybody is on their smartphones snapping away and live tweet/instagramming like nobody's business. The photographers' clicks, groovy music, models sashaying and parading in beautiful clothes - it is all so mesmerizing

THAT IS HOW I FEEL WHEN AM AT NYFW SHOW

Spotting celebrities and the fashion icons and coveted designers has been a bonus. At Diane Von Furstenberg show, while waiting in line I saw Anna Wintour (she. of course, was escorted before any of us mere mortals) within 6 inches of me and my first reaction - she is so thin!! LOL! André Leon Talley on the other hand was larger than life in his signature fur and sweet smile.

I love the energy and pageantry and sometimes utter ridiculousness of the fashion week. The rush of the celebrities, (always posing flawlessly) magazine editors (always running to somewhere), the fashion bloggers (trying to look and act more important than they actually are - seriously, it is fun to watch!) and the photographer swarming the Lincoln Center fountain to capture some of the amazing, fabulous, sometimes predictable (the 'IT' bags and shoes with beanies and coats draped over the shoulders) and sometimes outright crazy outfits of the attendees and lurkers alike. I get the kick out of seeing the luxurious outfits and accessories at NYFW, but sometimes ...

Always In Style - Long Sleeves Shift Dress

This is one of outfits I wore to New York Fashion Week (read my Fashion Week articles HERE). A shimmery shift dress with simple shoes and even simpler accessories. I have been in love with Mad Men's Jessica Paré's black dress with flowing bell sleeves and just above the knee hemline (remember 'Zou Bisou Bisou') and was looking for a similar shift dress (may be little longer hem) for so long! Finally at Marshalls this Tahari dress caught my eye - very similar cut and feel, and for $80 - I think it is a good investment. I intend to wear it all through fall winter with tights and tall boots!

Badgley Mischka Spring 2013 at New York Fashion Week

Badgley Mischka presented their Spring 2013 collection at the largest NYFW tent called theatre today. Lots of organza and tulle gowns, tweed and boucle jackets, satin and lace gowns and evening dresses in very delicate hues of lilac, celadon, blush and dove grey and even deep mulberry! The showstopper coral organza and tulle gown was ethereal! The collection surely had the award seasons in mind as lots of gowns looked so ready to be snagged by celebrity stylists for the red carpet!
